About Us
Formation of the Society
A public meeting was called by Councillor C. H. Lundberg, president of the Tweed Shire Council, at the request of the Murwillumbah Rotary Club, on 16 March 1959. This meeting saw the birth of Tweed River Historical Society, which is now known as the Murwillumbah Historical Society. More than 50 people attended the meeting, at which Mr R. C. Whittle was elected President and Dr J. K. Marks was elected Vice President.
